Master Degree Scholarships in Netherlands


An NFP fellowship, which is granted for the duration of the programme, is intended to provide a contribution towards the costs of living, to cover the costs of tuition fees, and the cost of visas, travel, insurance, thesis research, etc.
Mid-career professionals who are already in employment and who are nationals of and working in one of the selected countries can apply for the master's fellowship.
The duration of the programmes varies between 9 and 24 months.
Eligible countries in Africa include:
Ivory Coast, Kenya, Mali, Mozambique, Namibia, Nigeria, Rwanda, Senegal, South Africa, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia, Zimbabwe
A candidate applying for a Master's fellowship must:
· be a national of and working in one of the selected developing countries on the list;
· have been unconditionally admitted by a Dutch institution to one of the short courses on the course list. This means that the applicant must have met all the requirements set by the Dutch institution;
· have completed an NFP short course application form and have submitted all the required documentation to the Netherlands embassy or consulate;
· be nominated by his or her employer, who pledges to continue paying the candidate’s salary and guarantees the candidate will be able to return to an equivalent position at the end of the fellowship period. Partial payment of salary can sometimes be allowed as an exception to the rule.
It is up to the Dutch embassy to decide if an agreement between the employer and the candidate about partial continuation of payment of salary is acceptable.
· not be employed by a large industrial, commercial, international or multinational organization, which can be assumed to have sufficient resources of its own to finance staff training;
· offer evidence of proficiency in speaking and writing the language of instruction. If this is English, candidates who have received their tertiary education in any language other than English must provide evidence in the form of a score in an internationally recognized test, such as IELTS (a score of at least 6.0) or TOEFL (a score of at least 550 points on the paper based test or 213 points on the computer-based test or 79 on the internet-based test).
· An exception to this rule is made for candidates who have received their tertiary education in the English language, and for candidates who have previously attended a course or programme with a Dutch educational institution, but no longer than four years ago;
· be available for the entire period of the course and be physically and mentally able to take part in the entire course;
· declare that they will return to their home country immediately after the short course has ended.

Scholarship for Short-term Study in Japan


This scholarship is available for qualified international students accepted by Japanese universities or graduate schools under the student exchange agreement on a short-term basis from about three months to one year.
· Monthly stipend: ¥80,000 per month (up to 12 months)
· Relocation allowance: ¥80,000(upon arrival only)
The applicant must satisfy following conditions:
· Must hold nationality of countries that have diplomatic relations with Japan.
· Does not hold nationality of Japan.
Students are placed in three groups depending on when the study programs at the Japanese host universities begin.
Different deadlines are set for each group as follows.
· The 1st Period: for students starting their studies between April 1 and July 31.
· The 2nd Period: for students starting their studies between August 1 and November 30.

Music Scholarships at City University London




The Department of Music at City University London is internationally renowned as a centre of research and teaching excellence in composition (acoustic and electroacoustic), musicology, ethnomusicology, performance, and music technology, receiving the highest possible rating in the UK Research Assessment Exercise 2001 (5*).
The Overseas Scholarships in Music: 4 awards; £4,000 each
These scholarships are open to full-time overseas research students (UK/EU students are ineligible) who begin an MPhil-PhD in Music.
The award comprises a £4,000 contribution to overseas tuition fees, renewable for a further 2 years dependent on progress.
Overseas students who wish to study for an MMA-DMA degree (joint with the Guildhall School of Music and Drama) are eligible for an award of £2,000. Applications will be assessed according to the following criteria:
· Level of achievement at Undergraduate and Master’s degrees
· Markers of esteem such as prizes for outstanding work or a publication list, or major performance engagements
· Research excellence or demonstrable research potential

Scholarships for study in Holland: The main organization managing information about scholarships in Holland is NUFFIC, the Netherlands’ Organization for International Cooperation in Higher Education.
Up to date information on all scholarships for Holland can always be found on their website www.nuffic.nl.
Below is an overview of the major scholarships available to foreign students in Holland:
1) The Huygens scholarship
Huygens is the scholarship programme of NUFFIC, therefore being a scholarship exclusively for study in Holland.
It is often administered abroad by the local Dutch embassies.
2) The Netherlands’ Fellowship Programmes (NFP)
Since this programme, funded by the Netherlands’ Ministry of Foreign Affairs, is meant for postgraduate students who have already started a career, students can only participate in the programme if they have been nominated by their employer.
The grants can be used either for Master’s studies, Doctoral studies, short courses, training courses or refresher courses in Holland.
The programme currently operates in 57 countries.
This scholarship is also administered by Dutch embassies in the participating countries.
3) WOTRO
This is a scholarships programme for PhD or other Doctoral students.
The scholarship consists of a foundation supported by the Netherlands Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which aims at improving the research environment at developing countries by offering grants to individual researchers for securign appropriate research facilities.
The Doctoral project must be approved by both the local instances and a Dutch sponsor, and the research itself must be realated to development studies.
The duration of the scholarship is up to 4 years and consists of alternating studies in Holland and the student’s home country.
4) United Nations scholarship programmes
The suborganisations of the United Nations give out numerous scholarships to students from certain countries for study in Holland among other countries.
Information can be obtained from the representations of the specific organisations in the student’s home country.

Oxford Research in the Scholarship and Humanities of Africa

The ORISHA (Oxford Research in the Scholarship and Humanities of Africa) Studentship is for postgraduate study of Africa in the Humanities and is normally available in the following areas:
Social and Cultural Anthropology, Archaeology, Egyptology, History, Human Geography, African Literature, Politics and International Relations, Sociology, subject to appropriate supervision being available.
Applicants may be entering a graduate degree or already registered as graduate students.
DPhil students who have completed their fee liability but who have run out of support to cover their other costs will also be eligible.
Number and value of awards: One Studentship is available.
It will normally cover University fees at the home rate and provide a maintenance allowance.
In exceptional circumstances supplementary grants may be made in order to meet (or go some way towards meeting) the difference between the home and the overseas fees.

Working to Advance African Women Foundation Scholarship

WAAW foundation scholarship program offers $500/year for need-based female African students admitted to a University, College or institute of higher learning in Africa.
These scholarships for women in Africa are renewable annually, following proof of the student’s continued academic performance. Scholarships application deadline is December every year.
Eligibility:
Female students of African origin, who have gained admission to an institution of higher learning in Africa.

Gates Cambridge Scholarship - Cambridge University

The award of a Gates Cambridge Scholarship provides excellent opportunities for personal intellectual development, living and working alongside other similarly outstanding students from the UK and from many other countries.

Georgia Rotary Student Program, USA


The Georgia Rotary Student Program is aimed at promoting world peace through understanding by offering scholarships to international students for one year of study in Georgia colleges and universities.

Associated Board International Scholarships - Royal Schools of Music



Associated Board International Scholarships enable outstanding musicians to study on courses at one of the four Royal Schools of Music in the UK:
· Royal Academy of Music
· Royal College of Music
· Royal Northern College of Music
· Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama
There are normally four undergraduate awards each year, tenable at each of the Royal Schools for a four-year undergraduate performance course, and four postgraduate awards covering one or two-year postgraduate performance, composition or conducting courses at the Royal Schools.
The scholarships provide;
· Tuition fees for the designated course
· A grant of £3000 per year towards living expenses, normally paid by termly instalments.
· A flight ticket home upon satisfactory completion of the course.
Eligibility
· You must be a national of a country that is not a member of the European Union.
· You will not be eligible to apply if you have been living or studying in the UK for a period of more than one year immediately preceding 31 January in the year of entry to the course or if you have home fee status.
· For undergraduate study you should normally be at least 17 years of age by 31 January in the year of entry to the course.
· Postgraduates should normally be at least 21 years of age by 31 January in the year of entry.
· You will be expected to demonstrate outstanding musical promise and proficiency in your principal study or chosen field.

The New Zealand International Doctoral Research Scholarships(NZIDRS) offer a significant educational opportunity.
New Zealand International Doctoral Research Scholarships (NZIDRS) are open to all international students who meet the eligibility criteria.
NZIDRS scholarships include:
· Full tuition fees for three (3) years of full-time doctoral study
· Up to NZ$600 per annum health insurance allowance

Girls Global Education Fund


Girls Global Education Fund (GGEF) provides scholarships to girls in developing countries who would otherwise be unable to attend school.
Scholarships are given to girls in primary school, junior high and high school.
Girls Global Education Fund (GGEF) will cover the cost of sending girls to school for the entire year, and if necessary, also pay for transportation to school, and lunch.
To remain in the program, a girl must complete the school year with satisfactory grades and attendance.

MA in International Relations Scholarships


The Erasmus Mundus Masters Program in Public Policy (Mundus MAPP) is a 2-year-long international Masters course that embeds the nascent field of transnational public policy into a European context.
The European Commission's Erasmus Mundus program provides scholarships to outstanding students from countries outside the European Union to attend Mundus MAPP and to visiting scholars to participate in teaching and research.
Mundus MAPP provides a detailed and systematic understanding of how political institutions, processes and public policies operate and interact from the global political economy through to national and local levels with a direct focus on European engagements at these levels of governance.
The multidisciplinary curriculum is conceptually grounded in public policy, international relations, development studies, public administration and public management.
The program also provides practical work experience and transferable skills gained through an internship programme.
Mundus MAPP prepares graduates for international professional careers as policy-makers, policy-analysts and advisors in either politics, the civil service, international organisations or the corporate and non-governmental sectors.
The Mundus MAPP study program lasts two years and students undertake an internship either after the first or the second academic year.
Mundus MAPP graduates receive double degrees following MA as well as a diploma supplement at the end of their studies.

Trent International Program (TIP) offers a limited number of highly competitive renewable Full and Tuition scholarships to International Undergraduate Students who are not citizens or permanent residents of Canada.
These scholarships and Awards are tenable for up to four years of an Honours degree if a "B" average is maintained each year and are available for students entering the University in September.

Masters and PhD Scholarships by Catholic Academic Exchange Service (KAAD).
The Catholic Academic Exchange Service (KAAD) is a scholarship organization of the German Catholic Church that provides financial and civic educational support for high potential postgraduate scholars from Africa, Asia, Latin America and Eastern Europe.
The priority area is scholarships for Ph.D. studies.
Ph.D. scholars register at a German University, although their field research can be conducted in Africa.
Ph.D. scholarships are granted for up to 3,5 years (including 6 months German language training) and for all subjects.
KAAD provides support for individuals, i.e. usually scholars cannot be accompanied by their families.
Applications for Master-programs in Germany will be considered primarily for candidates whose professional experience and objectives reveal that a Masters-degree, and not a Ph.D., is the final goal of their higher education ('terminal Master').
If someone changes his/her mind after the Master-program and wishes to apply for a Ph.D.-scholarship, he/she must obtain an additional three years of relevant work experience in Africa first.
Rare exceptions from this rule may be allowed for female candidates.

After selecting the program(s) you should contact the course coordinator and apply for (at least provisional) admission.
Applications at Masters level may also be consideredfor programs in Ghana, Kenya, and Zimbabwe ('in-country scholarships').
Scholars who pursued Master-studies in one of these partner countries under a KAAD scholarship are entitled to compete for aPh.D.-scholarship for Germany at any time after their Master's degree ('second scholarships').
Masters and PhD Scholarships Eligibility
· Significant social and religious commitment: A clear preference is given to catholic (or Ethiopian orthodox) applicants.
The ideal candidate should be creative, with a distinguished personal integrity and leadership qualities.
· Academic excellence: A university degree (Bachelor, Master) with very good results (minimum: '2nd class upper' with an average grade of B or above, 'bien', CGPA of 3.2/4.0, or equivalent results).
· Upper age limits for Master's level and doctorates are 32 and 35 years, respectively.
Applicants who don't receive a reply from KAAD within 8 weeks have not been shortlisted for the next step of the preselection.

Tourism and Hospitality Scholarships, Australia: The International Centre of Excellence in Tourism and Hospitality Education (THE-ICE) is an Australian government initiative to encourage excellence in tourism and hospitality education.
Scholarships are offered to international students who wish to study tourism and hospitality in Australia at THE-ICE member institutions.
Scholarship applicants can choose from over 60 programs in tourism business management, hotel/resort management, sport/event tourism or ecotourism.
Scholarship grants are offered on the basis of excellence for Masters, Bachelor and Diploma level studies.

Masters in Strategic Project Management Scholarships


A number of Masters in Strategic Project Management Scholarships are granted by the Swedish Government and the Erasmus Mundus Consortium.
All enrolled students will be granted a scholarship by the Swedish government (€ 6,000) in addition to any Erasmus Mundus scholarship.
Admission criteria
There are three core admission criteria:
• Excellence of the candidate: outstanding achievement in the applicant’s first degree.
The minimum admission qualification is a high-quality Bachelor degree (or an equivalent academic degree) of minimum three years duration and 180 ECTS credits in a cognate discipline, or semi-cognate discipline with considerable relevant experience, e.g. business and management, science and engineering.
• Language ability: for non-native English speaking applicants a minimum IELTS score of 6.5 or equivalent is required (e.g. TOEFL 600 or 250 computer-based). A language policy exists for students with a slightly lower level of English (e.g. IELTS 6.0) who wish to apply; they are encouraged to take advantage of the pre-sessional English language course at Heriot-Watt University .
• Student motivation and relevance of the Masters Course to a student’s professional experience to date and future career aspirations.

All applications for admission will be forwarded to the co-ordinating institution ( Heriot-Watt University ) for processing.
Documents required in English WHICH MUST BE SUBMITTED AT THE TIME OF APPLICATION are as follows:
1. Application form including letter of motivation.
2. Curriculum vitae.
3. Certified copy of your university qualification.
4. Certified copy of the certificate issued by the competent academic authority confirming the examinations passed, detailed study programmes and the number of hours for each module studied.
5. Proof of level of English.
6. Two letters of recommendation, preferably from the university or institute that awarded your first degree.
7. Administrative papers: a copy of a valid ID document.
